Intarsia is a highly skilled artform unto itself and Jim Kauffman is one of the best creators of these individual masterpieces. Each of the pieces of gemstones are cut, polished and fitted so perfectly there are no gaps nor can you feel anything but a smooth surface when you run your finger along it.
In this instance, we have two different types of Opal separated by thin strips of Lapis Lazuli, surrounded and backed by a frame of the richly purple Sugelite. Each piece by Jim Kauffman is signed and numbered.
